Law Firm Earns 2010 Image Award for Public Relations

Stuart:  The Treasure Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) honored Robin Delgado of the Accident Law Offices of Philip DeBerard with a prestigious Judges Award at its annual Image Awards gala on April 22 at the Hutchinson Island Marriott.  

The law firm’s entry, Non-Profit Organizations are Getting Their Message Out in a New Way , was recognized as an outstanding effort in the  printed tools of public relations division.  The project helped local non-profit organizations obtain free advertising on the law firm’s electronic billboard. 

Being very committed to his community, attorney DeBerard was aware that non-profit agencies have seen their budgets diminish and have had to reduced their advertisements and important messages.  At the suggestion of Robin Delgado, the  Public Relations professional for the law firm, he decided to offer local non-profit agencies free advertising on his new electronic billboard.

The law firm had contracted with Lamar Outdoor company to advertise on the first digital billboard in  Stuart,  providing the law firm 1,600 digital impressions a day, seven days a week, with up to six different messages.  With the help both the print and online versions of local newspapers, Google Alerts, twitter, and the law firm’s blog, the message was sent out that non-profits in need could ask for free space on the law firm’s billboard.  And they did!  

The law firm gave a month (30 days) of free advertising on billboard to each of two (2) non-profit agencies so they could share their marketing message with the public at no cost to the agency.   Each month two new non-profits were chosen by the law firm.  This approach provided the participating non-profits – including United Way, Red Cross, and Food for Families -- with more than 200 six-second impressions/messages a day or 12,000 ad views a month to share their messages.

The Image Award judges agreed that this was an excellent example of public relations at work.
