Insurance companies often do surveillance on victims. Don’t make it easy for them.
What you should do:
1. If you already posted information, remove it today. That doesn’t entirely protect you, but it is better than leaving it on the website.
2. Set all your social network settings to "private," restricting your site to people you consider trustworthy.
3. In the future, do not put information about your accident or your activities on these websites. Be especially careful with any information about your activities that could contradict restrictions or limitations placed on you by your treating doctors. Imagine how it would affect your case at trial or even the evaluation of your claim if you have sustained a serious back or leg injury and the insurance company discovers on FaceBook that you had been skiing or weight lifting!
Keep your activities and case as confidential as possible. This information also applies to students trying to get into college and people looking for jobs.
